Labor Day DUI Checkpoint (8/30/2013)
On August 30, 2013, the Skokie Police will conduct another Labor Day DUI Checkpoint at 8600 McCormick Boulevard in Skokie, Illinois. The checkpoint will begin at 11:15 pm and end at 3:15 am, Saturday morning.
From August 16 through Labor Day, the Skokie Police Department will be out in force as part of the annual Illinois “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown on impaired drivers. The statewide crackdown has included alcohol and belt enforcement throughout Skokie.
The campaign will run from August 16 through September 2, 2013. The statewide crackdown has also been supported by national and state paid advertising to create a comprehensive campaign to curb impaired driving. The Skokie Police Department said its officers will be aggressively looking for impaired drivers during the crackdown.
In addition, seat belt law violators will be ticketed for those seated in either the front or back of the vehicle. Several DUI roadside safety checkpoints will be conducted with saturation patrols in the early morning hours during this Labor Day period.
