Online DUI Classes Allows Convenient Alternative
In a DUI case, an offender must complete an alcohol evaluation and complete a treatment recommendation as part of the terms of a DUI sentence. The evaluation is used to determine what level of alcohol treatment is needed to address the offense.
In Cook County, these evaluations are completed by the Central State’s Institute of Addiction, commonly called CSI. Central State’s is located in each of the suburban courthouses as well as 69 W. Washington, in downtown.

While all alcohol evaluations are completed by CSI, a person usually has more control in choosing their provider.
Recently, a client had completed an evaluation where his recommendation had been minimum level treatment. Minimum treatment is typically reserved for a first time offender with a blood alcohol content between 0.08 and 0.16.
Due to his non-traditional work hours, he began searching for accommodating providers. Not surprisingly, he found a non-traditional provider.

Registering for Classes
In all, their site has 9 steps outlined in order to register for online DUI classes:
- Complete an evaluation and fax the the alcohol evaluation or verification information.
- Submit an Acknowledgement of Client Rights’ Statement
- Access to a computer with an Internet connection
- An operating system of at least Windows 2000 or Apple 9.0.
- Use a personal email address
- At least Internet Explorer 6.0+, Netscape 4.7+
- CD-ROM drive
- Macromedia Flash plug-in
- And a Valid credit card to pay the $275.00 registration fee.
Once registered, the class must be activated within 30 days with another 30 days to complete the program. Being unable to complete the program within that time would lead to a termination and a $150.00 reinstatement fee.
