TOMORROW (8/31/12): CPD’s DUI Strike Force to Deploy Checkpoints

1) Checkpoint at 432 West 87th Street

The Chicago Police Department will deploy a DUI Checkpoint in the Gresham (006th) District at 432 West 87th Street from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2012 to 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012.

2) Checkpoint in Chicago Lawn (8th) District

A Second checkpoint will be deployed by the Chicago Police Department DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Chicago Lawn (8th) District from 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012 to 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2012.

Officers may use the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit speed up processing before an alleged offender is taken to the nearest lockup for bonding. Or, the mobile unit will allow for Individual Recognizance Bonds (I-Bonds) to be issued at the site of the DUI Strike Force Patrol.

LAST WEEK:

The DUI Strike Force Patrol conducted in the Grand Crossing (003rd) District on August 25-26, 2012 resulted in the following:

  • Driving Under the Influence 4
  • Unsafe Vehicle 28
  • Driver’s License Violations 11
  • Seatbelt Violations 10
  • Traffic Violations (Other) 22
  • Total Citations 75
  • Other Arrests 0
  • Vehicles Towed 5

The Roadside Safety Check conducted in the Deering (009th) District on August 23-24, 2012 resulted in the following:

  • Driving Under the Influence 9
  • Drivers’ License Violations 16
  • Insurance Violations 13
  • Unsafe Vehicle 6
  • Open Liquor 5
  • Other Citations 10
  • Total Citations 59
  • Non-Traffic Arrests 4 – 1 – Warrant
  • 3 – Possession of Cannabis
  • Vehicles Towed 20
